Entertainment lawyer Kendal Minter shares some key info about 360 deals and more with Iconic Chronicles' Shannon Lacy! In this interview he speaks on merchandising, publishing and other things that tap into an artist revenue stream.
On November 17th 2015 the NMPA honored writers Lisa Lobe, Justin Tranter and Ilsey Juber with Platinum and Gold certification plaques for their musical works. NMPA president David Israelite gave the plaques out as Warner-Chappell, SONY-ATV and Universal staff cheered their peers on! About 100+ power players and factors enjoyed the evenning of celebrating the writers contributions. Big Jon Platt and Wynter Evans were also in the building at the Sayers Club in Hollywood California. Some folks may not know Justin, Lisa and Ilse off hand, but those three creative people write many of the industries smash hit singles from Folk, Pop, EDM and Childrens music ! Not only are these writers great crafters of music and lyrical content, they each have a potent live performance that is strong and passionate in delivery . What an interesting opportunity to see and hear the writers of such great songs as "Good for You" Selena Gomez featuring ASAP Rocky, "Fireball" by Pitbull and the anthem "Stay" from Ben Stiller's
"Reality Bites"!
November 18th was an informative day about the landscape of the industry concerning writers and publishing matters. With streaming and an aray of streaming services making money via advertisement it does leave one to wonder "how do writers and artist get paid? And what's the split?" The NMPA and WeAreSONA held a confrence at the Andaz Hotel to share information on those issues. Multi award winning writers such as Michelle Lewis, Kay Hanley and Chucky Thompson were also in the building, along with some of the industries gifted writers and executives.
